Book Reviews

I have only known about Lanaia Lee's work for just a few short months. Her style of writing grips your very spirit, chills your blood and yet is soothing to the mind. She captures qualities in writing that are not easily found today. It is obvious that she has a very old soul and all of these qualities are apparent in her works.

Lanaia Lee has been through more tragedies than most people, and the pain is reflected in her poetry. She speaks of hell and death and loneliness, but there is also hope, an ability to look beyond the deep wounds of this world into the next, where she believes she will see those loved ones she has lost. Her grief is immediately evident by the use of words like "evil" and "blackness," but amid the darkness are rays of light. She writes of a "graceful peaceful land / In my mind beyond this life's hell" where she can escape her pain (from "The Pegasus of My Mind"). The scars still throb, but Ms. Lee is learning to look for comfort within herself.

If you give Lanaia's dark poetry a little thought as you read it, you will have your very soul haunted with nightmares until you are screaming for mercy. Lanaia has the ability to thrust a reader into what must surely be her most frightening visions and past experiences. She is a true credit to the genre of horror.
Without a doubt, Lanaia's book is a very thought-provoking read.
